Get to know Lune

I thought I should start this blog off with a nice ice-breaker post ━ a simple get to know me!

My name is Luna, but I go by Lune in online spaces. I’m a pansexual, sapphic-leaning, neurodivergent 30-something. I’m a knowledge-seeker, a creative, a highly-sensitive person, a parent and a practicing witch.

Growing up as an only child and the only child on my maternal side of the family, I was often left to entertain myself. I picked up art at a young age and found so much comfort in creative hobbies. Over the years I almost entirely stopped working on traditional art and moved to digital, eventually making a job out of making custom emotes for Twitch streamers. Only recently have I encouraged myself to re-learn the basics of anatomy and get back into traditional art, specifically sketching in a sketchbook and watercolor paintings of herbs/plant life.

When I was a child I collected pretty stones and made “potions” out of puddle water, bits of twigs and moss. The typical pipeline to becoming a witch. I was gifted my first tarot deck, a Rider-Waite, from my roommate sometime in 2012 and this opened up a new world of spirituality for me. Growing up on an island off the west coast of Canada meant I spent a quite large amount of my time outside in nature, further deepening my connection with nature, the moon and as of most recently ━ insects. I’m also a beginner collector of oddities of all types.

I was introduced to gaming at quite a young age by my family. I spent my summers at my grandparents house and they had multiple NES and Super Nintendo systems that I had access to. I was very privileged to be able to have most of the Nintendo systems. Videogames have become a part of the core of who I am, specifically the Animal Crossing series. I had it on every system since GameCube. I love being dropped off into a different environment, with the entire purpose being to experience a beautiful story. Being able to share that story/message and those moments with the developers feels so special to me. These days I spend a lot of time playing story-driven indie titles and Stardew Valley. For those who don’t know, I make mods for Stardew Valley. The game has become such an important part of who I am and such a fulfilling form of expression and creativity for me. Being able to give something back, like mods, to a community and a game that means so much to has been so, so rewarding.

So, why does this blog exist? I want to take you on a journey with me while I relearn hobbies I neglected over the years ━ the bits and pieces of who I am that I’ve lost since moving 2,600 miles from my hometown and became a stay at home mom. I want to fill this space full of blog posts about trying new creative hobbies, and my experiences. I want to talk about new music I’ve found or books I’ve read. I want to have meaningful conversations about mindful gaming, slow living, witchcraft, becoming more sustainable and the best versions of ourselves possible.

I’d love to curate this space together. Thank you so much for being here.
